The Village of Palatine’s downtown redevelopment plan necessitated the relocation of Durty Nellie’s which has provided food, drink and musical entertainment to the NW suburbs for over 30 years.  The new building of over 18,000 SF is considerably larger and built just a few blocks from the original location.

The building consists of  a large pub style bar and restaurant, a 2 story high 750 person capacity band room with loft bar and dining, lower level green room accommodations, an outdoor café and a rooftop terrace over a secondary tenant space.

The clients requested that the design maintain a casual and comfortable pub atmosphere.

Themed to reflect the character of an old railroad foundry, the forms and finishes of the project include brick, stained wood, black iron and galvanized metal. The band room includes a raised stage, a bar and state of the art sound and lighting systems.  Included in the band room design are six seventeen foot high murals flanking the stage.
