Centerville Properties commissioned Aria Group Architects to develop a mixed-use master plan
for a 12.5 acre parcel Huntley, Illinois. This abandoned school property is bordered by park
land to the south, single family homes to the west and north and commercial property to the
east. It was necessary this plan responded to the context of the site as well as provide
residential, office and retail space to the area.
Modeled after The Esplanade of Algonquin (designed by Aria Group for Centerville Properties)
the plan incorporates an axial green space that connects pedestrian access along Rt. 47 with
split-level mixed use buildings toward the west side of the site. Bordering the extreme west
edge of the site are town homes that serve as a transition development between the existing single
family homes and the commercial elements of the office/retail uses.
At the request of Centerville Properties, the buildings are designed to recall a historical
industrial vocabulary similar to the railroad structures common to the area.
