The development firm of Centerville Properties commissioned Aria
Group Architects to develop the master plan as well as design many individual buildings contained
in the plan. Spread over 40 acres in suburban Algonquin, the master plan includes mixed-use retail
and work/live condo units, office buildings, retail buildings and restaurant pad
sites. Integrated into Aria’s master plan will be a large residential development to the west
of the first phase site.
Creating and developing mixed-use projects is often a complex
development venture. Centerville’s bold concept brings to the fringe suburbs a work/live
environment that is both sociologically and environmentally sound. Higher density land
development, which includes a carefully selected mix of office, retail, and residential space, will
be the foundation of this project. Typically, these types of developments are completed in
more urban or established town center infrastructures. It is hoped the success of this project
is viewed as and viable alternative to the highly compartmentalized, low density developments that
overtake farmland, diminish a sense of community, proliferate suburban sprawl and contribute to
global warming.
