California Pizza Kitchen’s LA Food Show concept is a celebration of the ever-evolving international culinary world. Aria Group Architects became involved with LA Food Show starting with the Beverly Hills location, which opened in October 2008. It was Aria Group’s job to capture Los Angeles’ theatrical atmosphere, thus creating an appropriate backdrop for LA Food Show’s international menu.

Some distinctive features of Aria Group’s design include the use of exotic, floating rosewood ceilings, vertical grained zebra wood and rich, Bolivian rosewood walls highlighting a glowing stair.  Comfortable, high backed circular booths give each party their own “private” space. Diners in the mezzanine seating area overlook a dramatic view of the first floor. Rich fabrics, textured wall surfaces, the use of light and glowing surfaces, stylish, sleek furniture, and original art created from photos of Los Angeles all create the complete LA Food Show dining experience. The design unifies existing architectural components such as exposed wood bow string trusses and aged brick with contemporary elements that reflect Los Angeles’ glitz and glamour.

One unique aspect is that the design explores using materials in their non-traditional form such as installing wood flooring on curved, vertical planes and adding back-light to red polymer stair risers and blue resin bar shelves. Clear, 14' -0” high glazing along the entry and dining elevation reveals the spirit of Beverly Drive at all hours. The space surrounds the exhibition kitchen, where patrons can enjoy the chefs performing the “main show” of the evening; that is, preparing a diverse menu of delicious meals.
