Aria Group participated in the International Interior Design Association's 2013 STITCH Fashion Show, a fashion and charity event that pairs designers up with manufacturers to create a one-of-a kind wearable garment (this year, a mask) using the manufacturer’s products. The theme was A Masquerade Ball: Fashion and the mysticism of the 'Big Easy' Collide. The design teams were to choose a voodoo legend, folklore or fairy tale as their inspiration.
Aria Group, sponsored by Stone Source, designed this fanciful reinterpretation of the Red Riding Hood tale. Working from their original concept sketch (pictured above) the Aria Group team constructed a wolf mask from a variety of Stone Source's porcelain and glass mosaic tiles.
Putting a spin on the classic fairytale, this mask exemplifies the duality of the modern Red Riding Hood character and her struggle for identity. From the front you see an innocent girl, but the wolf lurks beneath her red hood.
Out of 28 participating design teams, Aria Group took Best in Show!
