In the 1980s, Robert Brozin and Fernando Duarte started Nando’s, a UK-based chicken restaurant featuring Peri-Peri chili sauces. Their inspiration came from cuisine created centuries ago by Portuguese settlers in South Africa. When the concept developed a devoted following, Nando’s spread worldwide. Causal comfort, natural materials and support of contemporary African artists are key elements of the design, but each location reflects local flavor.
