Candela Cucina brings handcrafted Italian cuisine to a National Parks Service historic landmark

Location

New Bedford, MA

Project Includes

Candela Cucina, the newest project from Servedwell Hospitality, derives its name from its historic setting. Situated in what was originally built as a candleworks business in 1815, the structure is made from hand hewn timbers, most like made by ship builders. The ceilings are low, and the walls are made of 200 year old stone foundations. Recognized by the National Park Service as part of the New Bedford, MA, Whaling National Historical Park, we endeavored to preserve the building’s storied history while bringing the design forward to fit the needs of our client. The result is a cozy and intimate space steeped in historical atmosphere. Perfect to be enjoyed by candlelight, Candela Cucina offers a beautiful setting for any special occasion.
