Location

Oak Park, IL

Project Includes

Aria has partnered with Beyond Hunger, a pillar of our Oak Park community, for years now. We host an annual food drive and participate in service projects benefitting the food bank, and we are thrilled to be a part of crafting their new home. For nearly 50 years, Beyond Hunger has provided food, nutrition education, and other community services for residents of Oak Park and Chicago’s West Side. This project entails a redesign and remodel of their new space, bringing a more accessible environment and expanded space as the organization continues to grow. This new space will enable Beyond Hunger to enhance and expand their services.
One of the priorities when working with a community nonprofit is ensuring the needs and comfort of clients, staff, and volunteers are being met. The redesign aims to create a dignified, accessible experience for community members with a grocery-style layout allowing for walk-in food selection. A larger storage area will also provide up to 65% more space for perishable and dry goods.

A community kitchen will host nutrition and cooking education programs, benefitting community health and setting up neighbors for sustained success. The new space will also feature dedicated areas for staff and volunteers, easing space constraints and allowing room for the organization to continue to grow.
This amazing organization has been combating hunger and building community connections in Cook County for nearly 50 years, and we are honored to be a part of this initiative to provide a safe, accessible space for our neighbors. Aria Principal Megan Walsh and Senior Associate Joe Junius joined the Beyond Hunger team and community leaders for the official groundbreaking for the new space in Oak Park, IL.
