Racino Prototype

An innovative model of the popular “racino” concept combining horse racing and gaming in a single event space

In recent years, “racino” concepts have seen a marked rise in popularity and for good reason. Combining horse racing and traditional gaming has significant and fresh allure as an entertainment model. Aria Group developed a 110-acre, 570,000 sq. ft. prototype designed for a narrow site influenced by wetlands. We aimed to create a starting point for potential racino projects, exploring and expanding the possibilities of this concept.

The complex includes a hotel, casino, and food hall with two parking decks. The racing component incorporates a grandstand food & beverage complex, a 32-stall paddock, and a Horseman’s Center flanked on each side with barns able to accommodate a total of 192 horses. The 1-mile, 90-foot wide “Euro Track” is suitable for thoroughbred and harness racing and features a 417′ inside turn radius. A pedestrian bridge links the grandstand to the infield, allowing access to a large event lawn, fountains, and a water detention zone. This complex builds upon the existing racino concept with a wide array of possible entertainment uses as well as lodging and dining options.
