Expanding our partnership with Chicago celebrity chef Rick Bayless, we took on a renovation of Tortazo in the NoMad neighborhood of New York. Paired with its sister location in Times Square, his remodel characterizes the growth of the Tortazo brand from a more fast-casual concept to gathering place for patrons to socialize and relax. We took a playful approach to this space, combining vibrant Mexican culture and the gritty mood of New York. Chandeliers woven from natural materials bring an earthy, lived-in feel evoking traditional artisan practices in Mexico. To give the venue an extra punch of personality, NYC Mexican-American street artist Marka27 lined the walls with lively and colorful murals. The back bar, framed by this mural work, is the perfect place to grab after-work drinks or indulge in Sunday brunch.
